My Thoughts on Zombie Princess

"Zombie Princess" promised a unique blend of comedy, romance, and the supernatural, and for the most part, it delivered a fun, if somewhat fleeting, experience. It's the kind of story you can breeze through in an afternoon, perfect for a lighthearted escape.

First Impressions

The premise immediately grabbed me: a zombie queen transmigrating into the body of a princess in ancient China. Her main goal? To accrue "hatred points" to maintain her humanity and, most importantly, keep her taste buds functioning! It's quirky, it's different, and it definitely piqued my interest. I was ready for a face-slapping romp through ancient Chinese tropes, and in many ways, that's exactly what I got.

What Works Well

The humor is definitely a strong point. The protagonist's antics as she intentionally provokes the original male and female leads are genuinely funny. I found myself chuckling at her brazen attempts to gain hatred points, and the reactions of those around her were often priceless. The romance, while not the central focus, is sweet and satisfying. The male lead is a refreshing departure from the typical overbearing CEO types often found in similar novels. He's loyal, protective, and his interactions with the MC are genuinely heartwarming. The plot, while not overly complex, is engaging enough to keep you invested. The political scheming in the background adds a layer of intrigue, and there's rarely a dull moment.

Areas of Concern

Despite its strengths, "Zombie Princess" does have some weaknesses. The most common complaint is its length. At just around 60 chapters, the story feels rushed, especially towards the end. Character development and world-building suffer as a result. The romance, though enjoyable, could have been more fleshed out. I would have loved to see more moments showcasing the depth of their connection. The system aspect also felt somewhat underdeveloped; it's introduced as a crucial element but doesn't play as significant a role as it could have.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning

Some readers have expressed disappointment with the ending, particularly regarding the ML's decision to abdicate the throne and the lack of closure for certain characters. The fate of the original FL and the details surrounding the ML's past could have been explored further.

Final Verdict

"Zombie Princess" is a fun, lighthearted read that's perfect for passing the time. While it's not without its flaws, its humor, unique premise, and enjoyable characters make it a worthwhile experience. If you're looking for a quick and entertaining escape, this novel is definitely worth a try. I'd give it a solid 3.75/5.

Synopsis

The reign of the zombie queen ended, and her soul transmigrated into an ancient historical novel. She thought she could finally be a human and enjoy food. But, the s*upid system sent by the heaven said– ”Your food experience is over. You’re in a zombie state. I ask the host to work hard to gain hatred points of the male and female lead of the novel. Every 1 point of hate value can be exchanged for 1 minute of delicious food. Come on host!” Luo Fu: “… gain hatred points. Sounds good!” This is a story of a vicious female who constantly gains hatred but remains alive and eats happily.
