My Thoughts on Outrageous
"Outrageous" has been quite the ride! This yuri novel, blending comedy, drama, and fantasy elements, really grabbed my attention. With its themes of acting, devoted love, and a touch of system shenanigans, it's a story that's both heartwarming and surprisingly emotional.
First Impressions
Right off the bat, I was drawn in by the premise. Lu Zhiwei, our MC, is incredibly likeable, an "older sister type" who's kind, humble, and genuinely cares for those around her. Then there's Sang Wanci, the FL, who initially comes off as serious and focused. The misunderstanding of the MC being a fan was a delightful start to their interactions. The combination of the entertainment circle setting, system elements, and a "stealing the male lead script" plot was intriguing and fresh.
What Works Well
The character development is definitely a strong point. Watching Lu Zhiwei adapt to her changing circumstances, going from someone with a "transparent existence" to suddenly being in the spotlight, was compelling. I also appreciated that she wasn't portrayed as fearless; her moments of cowardice made her actions even more impactful. The relationship between Lu Zhiwei and Sang Wanci is a highlight. Their chemistry is undeniable, and their interactions are both sweet and hilarious. I especially enjoyed how the author explored the theme of fate, with the characters navigating multiple lifetimes and systems. The side characters also add depth to the story. Lao Wu, in particular, is a standout, evolving from a system administrator to a genuinely caring figure who even defies the system for the MC.
Areas of Concern
While I thoroughly enjoyed the story, I can see how some might find the detailed descriptions of the movies the characters are acting in a bit tedious. Also, the ending might not be for everyone. The time travel element and reset could feel like it diminishes some of what happened before.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers may be sensitive to spoilers, so proceed with caution! There are discussions of character deaths, system reveals, and plot twists that could impact your reading experience.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Outrageous" is a captivating and emotional yuri novel that I highly recommend. The well-developed characters, engaging plot, and sweet romance make it a truly enjoyable read. While the ending might be a bit divisive, the journey is definitely worth it. I laughed, I cried, and I was thoroughly invested in Lu Zhiwei and Sang Wanci's story. If you're looking for a heartwarming and entertaining read with a touch of fantasy and drama, give "Outrageous" a try. You might just find yourself as captivated as I was.
