My Thoughts on Who Moved My Ashes
"Who Moved My Ashes" is a short and sweet yuri novel that I found incredibly heartwarming. It's a story about second chances, grief, and the discovery of love that was hidden in plain sight. While it might not be perfect, it definitely left a lasting impression.
First Impressions
The initial chapters definitely tugged at my heartstrings. The story starts with heartbreak, but it quickly blossoms into a fluffy and mutually loving relationship between the main characters. The premise of rebirth, though not heavily explored, sets the stage for a beautiful story about cherishing the present and confessing your feelings, even if it's scary.
What Works Well
I really enjoyed the dynamic between the MC and FL. The story executes the pining and requited unrequited love tropes quite well. It's clear the author put effort into making the characters realistic and their relationship believable. The portrayal of the MC's anxiety was also a highlight for me; it felt authentic and added depth to her character. I especially loved how the FL was Chen Man, who harbored unrequited love for years, but she did not take advantage of Jiang Xichu at her weakest. Chen Man is also cool! She can slam you down with words and facts.
Areas of Concern
The biggest issue for me was the pacing, particularly towards the end. While the short length is generally a strength, the ending did feel a little rushed. I would have loved an epilogue to provide a more satisfying conclusion. Also, the world-building is admittedly flimsy, but given the story's length, it's understandable.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers have questioned whether the MC's feelings for the FL stemmed from genuine love or simply guilt and indebtedness. This is a valid point to consider while reading.
Final Verdict
Despite some minor flaws, I highly recommend "Who Moved My Ashes." It's a quick, heartwarming, and emotional read that's perfect for fans of shoujo ai. If you're looking for a story about second chances, devoted love, and a touch of the paranormal, give this one a try. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
