My Old Gong Has Amnesia promised a fluffy, comedic romance with a unique premise, and for the most part, it delivered. I went in expecting a lighthearted read, and I wasn't disappointed.
First Impressions
The initial hook is definitely intriguing: a genetically modified MC who doesn't quite grasp human emotions paired with a CEO ML who develops amnesia. I was immediately curious to see how this dynamic would play out, especially with the added layer of a hidden conspiracy surrounding the MC's origins. The story starts off with a good pace, and the author wastes no time setting up the characters.
What Works Well
The biggest strength of this novel is the relationship between the MC, Ye Shanshan, and the ML, Gong Yue. It's sweet, supportive, and genuinely heartwarming. The MC's naivete and the ML's doting nature create a dynamic that's both funny and endearing. I especially enjoyed how the story explores the MC's emotional growth as he learns to navigate the complexities of human feelings. The side characters, especially the MC's best friend, add even more charm to the story.

When ML's mom, Gong Youli, was younger, she worked as a researcher and was unknowingly plotted against. This caused a problem when she was pregnant with ML. To save ML, GY took a medicine that she developed. Later on, GY left her family and joined a research group to find a cure for the side effects of the medicine. MC was the only successful experimental human of this research group. GY had MC escape and she blew up the research center to protect ML.

Overall, I found My Old Gong Has Amnesia to be a delightful and heartwarming read. If you're looking for a fluffy romance with a unique premise and an OP MC, this novel is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared for a bit of slow pacing and varying translation quality.
