My Thoughts on Believe It Or Not, I Already Caught You
"Believe It Or Not, I Already Caught You" is a wild ride that blends comedy, romance, and the supernatural into a surprisingly cohesive and entertaining package. I went in expecting a lighthearted read, and while it definitely delivered on that front, I was also pleasantly surprised by the depth of the characters and the intriguing plot.
First Impressions
From the start, I was hooked by the unique premise: a money-grubbing ghost-catching girl and a powerful, but lonely, neighbor. Chen Yu, the female lead, is a breath of fresh air. She's bold, cheeky, and clever, and I found myself constantly laughing at her antics. The male lead, Lou Ming, is equally endearing. He's a sweetheart who dotes on Chen Yu but isn't overbearing or controlling, which is a huge plus in my book.
What Works Well
The humor in this novel is top-notch. The author has a knack for writing hilarious scenes and witty dialogue that kept me entertained from beginning to end. The side characters, especially Chen Yu's grandfather, are also a highlight. He's a sassy, online game-addicted master exorcist who steals every scene he's in.
I also appreciated the unique plotline, which deviates from the typical transmigration or reincarnation stories. The blend of modern technology with traditional ghost-catching techniques is creative and adds a fun twist to the supernatural elements. The world-building is well-done, and the author clearly put a lot of thought into the details of the ghost and supernatural world.
Areas of Concern
While I thoroughly enjoyed the novel, there were a few minor issues that I noticed. Some readers might find the female lead a bit too confident or even naive at times, and a few reviewers noted that the transition from friendship to romance felt a bit abrupt. The ending also seemed to drag on a bit for some readers. Also, the FL forcibly kissing the ML wasn’t really funny and the novel should’ve stopped treating it as a joke after the first time.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some reviewers have discussed plot points that reveal past life connections and the origins of certain characters' powers. Be cautious when reading further reviews if you prefer to avoid spoilers.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Believe It Or Not, I Already Caught You" is a delightful and engaging read that I would highly recommend. It's a unique and entertaining story with well-developed characters, laugh-out-loud humor, and a satisfying romance. Despite a few minor flaws, the strengths of this novel far outweigh its weaknesses, making it a worthwhile addition to any web novel reader's list.
