"Childhood Sweethearts (Ye Se)" promised a heartwarming journey through the lives of two girls destined to be together. As a sucker for a good yuri romance, I dove in with high hopes, ready to experience the sweetness of first love and the comfort of lifelong friendship.

The beginning was a bit jarring, I have to admit. The initial chapters depict the main character as… less than pleasant. Her bullying behavior was definitely off-putting and made it difficult to immediately connect with her. It felt like a hurdle I had to overcome to get to the core of the story.
What Works Well
Thankfully, the story does deliver on its promise of character growth. As the girls mature, so does the protagonist, shedding her childish tendencies.
