My Thoughts on Sorry, I’m a Straight Girl
"Sorry, I'm a Straight Girl" is a completed yuri novel that I recently dove into, and it proved to be quite the ride. I found it to be a quick and easy read, perfect for when you're looking for something light and fluffy with a healthy dose of steam.
First Impressions
The beginning is definitely... attention-grabbing. It throws you right into the deep end with some very explicit content. The female lead's backstory involves some trauma that led her to pursue online adult entertainment. The initial premise revolves around the main character, Gu Yihuan, developing an intense attraction to the FL's online persona. Honestly, the initial setup is pretty unconventional, and it might not be for everyone.
What Works Well
Where this novel shines is in the character development and the burgeoning relationship between the two leads. The story really picks up once they meet in person. I enjoyed watching their connection deepen beyond just physical attraction. There's a genuine sweetness as they navigate their feelings, trying to build a relationship based on love and respect, not just lust. Gu Yihuan, in particular, is portrayed as a very straightforward and considerate partner, which I found really endearing. The novel really finds its stride as they try to reconcile their intense physical desires with their longing for a deeper, more meaningful connection.
Areas of Concern
The initial focus on explicit content might be a turn-off for some readers, and that's understandable. While the story does evolve beyond that, it's a significant part of the beginning. If you're looking for something purely wholesome, this might not be it.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, so here's where I have to be careful. It is important to understand the FL had trauma so she turned to making money by masturbating in front of a camera. Gu Yihuan (MC) is just overall a wealthy h**ny individual but she has a hard time climaxing till one day she finds that FL is great m*sturbation material. I wanted to warn readers that the novel starts to get good when they actually meet in real life.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Sorry, I’m a Straight Girl" is an enjoyable, albeit somewhat unconventional, yuri romance. If you're okay with a steamy start and enjoy watching characters grow and develop a genuine connection, I'd say give it a try. Just be prepared for some explicit content early on. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
