My Thoughts on So You’re Not Human Either
First Impressions
"So You’re Not Human Either" immediately drew me in with its promise of a lighthearted blend of fantasy, comedy, and romance. The premise of an arranged marriage between seemingly incompatible supernatural beings in the modern world felt fresh and intriguing. I was definitely curious to see how this story would unfold, especially with the "calm protagonist" and "doting love interests" tags.
What Works Well
The story shines in its ability to deliver a satisfyingly fluffy and entertaining experience. I found the dynamic between the main characters to be genuinely charming. The male lead's naivety, especially as a powerful dragon trying to conceal his identity, added a layer of humor that consistently made me smile. The protagonist's tolerance of his antics, despite knowing his true nature, was also a fun element to watch. The plot moves at a brisk pace, and it's easy to get invested in the characters and their interactions. The side characters are also well-developed and add to the overall richness of the story. It’s the kind of story where conflicts are resolved relatively easily, making it a perfect read when you're looking for something stress-free and enjoyable.
Areas of Concern
While the story is undeniably fun, I do feel that the romance could have been developed a bit more. The relationship progresses quickly, and I would have loved to see more time dedicated to the characters truly falling for each other. While the pacing works well for a shorter story, it does leave the romantic development feeling slightly rushed. I also think that while the overall plot is engaging, the resolutions to certain conflicts could have been a bit more impactful. If you're expecting a grand, high-stakes finale, you might find yourself wanting more.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some plot elements are discussed in the source reviews that may spoil some of the reading experience for you.
Final Verdict
Overall, "So You’re Not Human Either" is a delightful and easy read that I would recommend if you're in the mood for something light, funny, and heartwarming. While the romance might feel a bit rushed for some, the charming characters and engaging plot more than make up for it. It's a perfect palate cleanser between heavier reads, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
