My Thoughts on Reborn with the Ultimate Genius System
First Impressions
When I dove into "Reborn with the Ultimate Genius System," I was intrigued. The premise of a rebirth coupled with a seemingly all-powerful system sounded like a recipe for an engaging power fantasy. I was hoping for a story that could balance wish fulfillment with genuine character growth and compelling plot development. Sadly, my initial optimism waned as I progressed.
What Works Well
Honestly, finding aspects that truly shone was a challenge. The early romance is cute, and the idea of a devoted love interest is appealing. There's a certain escapist charm to the wish-fulfillment aspect, especially in the beginning when the MC starts rapidly excelling. The concept of the system itself also had promise, offering potential for unique challenges and rewards.
Areas of Concern
Unfortunately, the execution of the story left much to be desired. The pacing felt incredibly slow, with only a few months passing despite the large number of chapters. The MC's sudden mastery of various fields – from mathematics and painting to calligraphy and cooking – felt completely unrealistic and unearned. It strained my suspension of disbelief that someone could become a "genius" in so many areas in such a short time, especially with minimal effort or practice shown on screen.
The business aspects were also problematic. The MC starts companies seemingly on a whim, without considering copyright or other essential factors. The author's portrayal of character interactions felt superficial, lacking depth and emotional resonance. Many of the characters seemed like shallow archetypes rather than fully realized individuals.
The constant, almost paranoid, nationalistic undertones also became grating. While understanding the cultural context is important, the constant "China number one!" narrative felt forced and detracted from my overall enjoyment. Finally, the system itself lost its appeal as it became nothing more than a convenient plot device to hand the MC abilities and wealth without any real effort.
Final Verdict
"Reborn with the Ultimate Genius System" had the potential to be a fun and engaging read, but ultimately fell short. The weak character development, unrealistic power progression, and questionable plot choices made it difficult for me to fully invest in the story. While the early romance and wish-fulfillment elements might appeal to some, the overall experience left me disappointed. I can only give it a 2.5/5.
