My Thoughts on Puffed-up after Giving Birth to a Wealthy Man’s Heir
First Impressions
Okay, diving into "Puffed-up after Giving Birth to a Wealthy Man’s Heir," I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The title is definitely a mouthful! It’s a rebirth story with revenge, a cute kid, and a wealthy CEO – all wrapped up in a package that feels familiar if you've read other works by this author. I was intrigued by the psychology aspect and the promise of some good old-fashioned face-slapping.
What Works Well
The core of this story is the satisfying revenge plot. Our MC, Yi Wei, gets a second chance to right the wrongs of his past life, and it's fun to watch him navigate the complex family dynamics and outsmart his enemies. I appreciated that he wasn’t just relying on the ML; he actively used his own skills and knowledge to get ahead. The relationship between Yi Wei and Gu Heng, the ML, is also a highlight. It starts off a bit unconventional, but evolves into a genuinely caring and supportive partnership. I particularly enjoyed the addition of the ML's split personality, which added an interesting layer to their dynamic. Also, the side couple was pretty cute. The author has created a shared universe, and the cameo from characters in "Second Marriage of a Wealthy Old Man" was a delightful surprise.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story overall, there were a few things that held it back from being a truly top-tier read. The revenge, while satisfying, felt a bit rushed towards the end. Also, the psychology aspect, while interesting, sometimes felt a bit too convenient and over-the-top. I felt the cross-dressing aspect was a bit over the top and uncomfortable.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers may want to know that the MC and ML sleep together before the MC's rebirth. This was part of a deal they made, and it involved the ML's alternate personality. Also, the reason why Yi Wei uses the "Yi" surname is because his parents who raised him from birth loved him and asked Mi Xue to adopt him after they died.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "Puffed-up after Giving Birth to a Wealthy Man’s Heir" is an entertaining read. If you're looking for a story with a clever MC, a doting ML, and plenty of satisfying revenge, this might be right up your alley. Just be prepared for some plot holes and over-the-top moments along the way. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
