My Thoughts on Mr. Fashionable
"Mr. Fashionable" promised a fluffy, comedic ride through the world of modeling and romance, and while it delivered on some fronts, it stumbled in others. Overall, I found it an enjoyable, but flawed, read.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked! The premise of a seemingly elegant celebrity hiding a gluttonous, childish inner self was hilarious. The early chapters were filled with laugh-out-loud moments as I watched the MC, Su Nuo, navigate his public persona versus his private cravings. The insta-love between Su Nuo and Ouyang Long, while quick, was endearing enough to keep me invested.
What Works Well
The strength of "Mr. Fashionable" lies in its humor and the dynamic between the main couple. Su Nuo's internal monologues and silly antics, especially when fueled by alcohol, were consistently entertaining. I appreciated his loyalty to his brother and the sweet, supportive relationship he had with his manager. The novel excels at creating a lighthearted atmosphere, perfect for readers seeking a break from heavier plots. Many will enjoy the side couples and the variety of relationships explored.
Areas of Concern
However, the story started losing its shine as it progressed. The introduction of certain side couples felt forced and detracted from the main plot. I found myself losing interest during their chapters, wishing the focus would return to Su Nuo and Ouyang Long. Some may find the MC's childishness endearing at first, but it can become grating as the story continues, with little to no character growth. The ML is also a bit bland, mostly existing to dote on the MC. The plot is very simple and expected with happy endings for all the couples.
Final Verdict
"Mr. Fashionable" is a decent choice if you're in the mood for a light, comedic BL novel with multiple couples. However, be prepared for some pacing issues, potentially annoying side characters, and a somewhat simplistic plot. While it didn't fully live up to its initial promise, it still provided enough laughs and fluffy moments to make it a worthwhile read for those seeking pure entertainment.
