My Thoughts on In Search of Love
"In Search of Love" has been quite the unexpected journey! With its blend of comedy, fantasy, historical elements, and a dash of mystery, it's easy to see why so many readers are captivated. I went in expecting a typical transmigration story, but what I found was something much more refreshing.
First Impressions
The premise itself is intriguing: a modern woman, a criminal psychologist no less, is tasked with finding her soulmate in ancient China to return home. Waking up in a tree in her pajamas definitely sets the stage for a unique experience! I was immediately curious about how she would navigate this unfamiliar world.
What Works Well
What truly shines in this novel are the characters. The female lead is a breath of fresh air. She's an adult, acts her age, and is realistically flawed. She's intelligent and hardworking, but also stubborn and petty at times, making her feel like a real person. And the male lead? He's not your typical cold, ruthless ML. He's patient, kind, intelligent, and even a little sly, making him incredibly likable. Their relationship develops gradually, built on friendship and mutual respect, which is a welcome change from insta-love tropes.
The plot is also well-structured, allowing us to connect with the MC before she's thrust into the past. Watching her adapt to ancient China, using her skills to make a living, and solve cases along the way is genuinely engaging. The mystery aspect adds another layer of interest without overshadowing the main goal of finding her soulmate.
Areas of Concern
I did notice some readers mentioning translation issues, particularly around chapter 50 where revisions may not have been properly integrated. While the overall meaning is conveyed, this could lead to confusion for some readers. Also, some readers who want a lot of romance may find the case-solving plot lines tiresome.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some reviewers mentioned a "WTF moment" related to the FL's return. Apparently, there's a revised version that clears up confusion, so keep an eye out for the "tree" version!
Final Verdict
Despite a few translation hiccups, "In Search of Love" is a gem that deserves its high rating. I found the realistic characters, engaging plot, and gradual romance to be incredibly refreshing. If you're looking for a transmigration story with depth, humor, and heart, I highly recommend giving this one a try.
