My Thoughts on History’s Number 1 Founder
"History's Number 1 Founder" is a wild ride through the xuanhuan genre, and I've got to say, it's a novel that definitely stands out from the crowd. It's funny, engaging, and offers a unique spin on familiar tropes.
First Impressions
From the very beginning, I was hooked by the premise. Lin Feng, our protagonist, is tasked with building the greatest sect in history, or face certain death. The initial chapters are hilarious, with Lin Feng relying on his knowledge of xianxia clichés and a healthy dose of bluffing to survive. He's essentially hijacking the destinies of future protagonists from other novels, which is a brilliant and entertaining concept.
What Works Well
The comedy is definitely a highlight. I found myself laughing out loud at Lin Feng's internal monologues and his ridiculous schemes to recruit disciples. The author does a great job of balancing the humor with genuine character development, especially when it comes to Lin Feng's disciples. They aren't just puppets; they have their own personalities, goals, and even rivalries.
I also appreciate the world-building. As the story progresses, the focus shifts from individual fights to the manipulation of world politics, adding depth and complexity to the narrative. The sect-building aspect is consistently well-done, and it's satisfying to see the sect grow from a small group to a powerful force. The author also manages to create compelling side characters and their own unique stories.
Areas of Concern
While the novel has many strengths, it does have some weaknesses. The comedy, while great at the start, gradually fades as the story progresses. I also noticed that the MC becomes increasingly overpowered, which can reduce the tension and make the story feel less exciting. His cheat roulette always seems to give him exactly what he needs, which can feel a bit too convenient.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers may find the ending anticlimactic or repetitive, as the MC always seems to come out on top.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "History's Number 1 Founder" is an enjoyable and engaging read. The unique premise, comedic elements, and well-developed characters make it stand out from other xuanhuan novels. If you're looking for a fun and entertaining story with a fresh take on the genre, I'd recommend giving this one a try. Just be prepared for the comedy to lessen over time and the MC to become increasingly powerful. Overall, I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
