My Thoughts on Don’t Covet the Beautiful System!!
"Don’t Covet the Beautiful System!!" offered me a heartwarming and unique reading experience. This novel delicately balances comedy, drama, and romance within a sci-fi setting, making it a delightful escape from the everyday. The story's premise, where the MC transmigrates as a system for the ML, immediately grabbed my attention, and the execution kept me hooked.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the promise of a fluffy and lighthearted story. The idea of a system MC and a stoic ML navigating life together seemed like a refreshing twist on the typical transmigration narrative. And I wasn't disappointed; the early chapters are filled with humor and sweetness as the MC interacts with the world around him.
What Works Well
The strength of this novel lies in its characters. The MC, Ji Tong, is a ray of sunshine, radiating warmth and positivity. I found his interactions with the ML, Pei Qingyuan, especially endearing. Pei Qingyuan is a well-developed character, whose cold exterior hides a deep longing for a loving family. Their slow-burn romance is a treat to experience, and I found myself invested in their journey. I also appreciated the author's attention to detail when developing the side characters. They weren't just plot devices but felt like real people with their own stories and motivations. The novel's exploration of forgiveness and personal growth was particularly impactful.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the story, I did notice a few areas where it could have been stronger. The translation quality, while generally good, occasionally suffers from awkward phrasing. In addition, the plot felt somewhat simple and rushed in certain areas. Some plot points were left vague, and I would have liked to see them explored in more depth. I also found myself wishing that the ML had a more prominent role in the second half of the story.
