My Thoughts on Becoming a Movie Queen after Transmigrating as the Villain’s Cat
"Becoming a Movie Queen after Transmigrating as the Villain’s Cat" is a title that certainly grabbed my attention, and after diving in, I can see why it's been so well-received. The premise is undeniably quirky: a movie queen reincarnates as a cat belonging to a supposed villainess. It's a recipe for fluffy fun, and for the most part, it delivers.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the dynamic between the ruthless, yet adorable, cat MC and the seemingly cold, but secretly soft, FL. The early chapters are filled with humor and heartwarming moments as the MC navigates her new feline life and tries to protect the naive FL from the machinations of her family. The translator's work also appears to be excellent, making the story easy to get invested in.
What Works Well
The core strength of this novel lies in its characters. The MC is hilarious, and I especially enjoyed her internal monologues as she adapted to being a cat. Her interactions with the FL are genuinely touching, and their relationship develops at a believable pace. I also appreciated that both leads are portrayed as intelligent and independent women. The initial plotline of the MC helping the FL overcome her problems was also well-executed. The author also introduces a lot of interesting side characters that really make the world feel alive.
Areas of Concern
However, as the story progresses, the focus shifts towards the entertainment industry, which, for me, became a bit of a drag. The pacing slows down, and the plot becomes bogged down in typical entertainment circle drama. Additionally, some of the side characters that were initially interesting are sidelined, and some readers may find the ending to be somewhat rushed.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers may be disappointed with the introduction of a gay side character, feeling that it detracts from the yuri focus. Also, the resolution of the antagonistic character is considered anticlimactic.
Final Verdict
Despite some pacing issues and a shift in focus, "Becoming a Movie Queen after Transmigrating as the Villain’s Cat" is an enjoyable read, especially if you're a fan of fluffy yuri stories with a unique premise. The engaging characters and humorous writing make it a worthwhile experience, even if the entertainment industry arc isn't everyone's cup of tea. I'd say it's a solid 4-star read, with the potential for more if the author had stuck to the initial storyline.
