My Thoughts on After Participating in Intern Parents Variety Show with Movie Empress Mother
First Impressions
Alright, so I dove into "After Participating in Intern Parents Variety Show with Movie Empress Mother" with a bit of trepidation, honestly. Reality TV show premise? Child protagonist? It could've gone either way. But I was pleasantly surprised by the heartwarming core of this story. It's a fluffy and sweet read, and I found myself genuinely invested in the characters.
What Works Well
The absolute star of the show is An An. She's undeniably cute, and her interactions with her parents are the heart of the novel. The author does a great job portraying her innocence and how she navigates the world around her. I also appreciated that the parents, Mo Sui and Gu Yingchen, weren't perfect. They had their flaws and past hurts, but they genuinely tried to provide a loving environment for An An. The supporting characters, like the best friend, add to the charm and make the story more relatable. I especially liked the org!FL character development. The antagonists are dealt with quickly, maintaining the focus on the family dynamic and An An's cuteness.
Areas of Concern
While the overall story is enjoyable, it does have its weak points. The plotlines, such as the transmigrated novel plotlines and generic showbiz drama, feel like filler and detract from the core family story. I did feel that the author didn't know how to extend the plot without ANOTHER reality show. Also, as much as I love An An, she's almost too perfect. A little more realistic portrayal of a four-year-old's tantrums and emotions would have made her even more relatable.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, let's get into some specifics. It was a bit strange how the parents didn't work out their problems before adopting the kid. The dad using the kid to get on the mom's good side felt weird. The original novel story dreams felt random. I can also see how some might be uncomfortable with the premise of putting young children in a reality show for adult amusement.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, "After Participating in Intern Parents Variety Show with Movie Empress Mother" is a heartwarming and enjoyable read. If you're looking for a fluffy, feel-good story with a cute child protagonist and a focus on family, this is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared to skim through some of the less engaging plotlines to get back to the good stuff. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
