My Thoughts on I Just Want to Be in a Relationship
This novel was a delightful surprise! Going in, I was expecting a fairly standard entertainment circle romance, but what I found was a heartwarming story about connection, growth, and accepting love in unexpected forms. It definitely earned its high rating.
First Impressions
Initially, the premise of a reborn actor with incredible luck seemed a bit much, I'll admit. I was worried it would be overly saccharine or rely too heavily on plot contrivances. However, I quickly found myself charmed by the characters and invested in their journey. The "slice of life" feel is strong, which created a comfortable and engaging reading experience.
What Works Well
The strength of this novel lies in its characters, particularly the main couple. Many readers praised the well-developed relationship between the MC and ML, and I wholeheartedly agree. The ML, in particular, is a standout. His unique characterization, portrayed as a genius with autism, brings a fresh perspective to the "doting love interest" trope. I found their interactions incredibly sweet and realistic, with both characters showing genuine effort to understand and support each other. The MC's development, from a somewhat jaded reborn actor to someone willing to embrace vulnerability, was also compelling. The fluffy and lighthearted tone is a welcome change from angstier stories, making it a perfect comfort read.
Areas of Concern
While I thoroughly enjoyed the novel, I can see where some readers might find fault. The MC's initial acting skills being already mastered could remove a layer of potential conflict. Also, the story's reliance on the MC's luck might feel a little too convenient for some, though the ultimate explanation for it is quite touching. Also, a small number of readers expressed disappointment in one instance of the ML misunderstanding the MC's intentions, but that was quickly resolved.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some reviews mentioned that the reason for the MC's incredible luck is revealed at the end and ties into his past life and the ML's deep love for him. Apparently, his luck is a result of collective wishes for him to have a good life after sacrificing himself to save the ML in his previous life.
Final Verdict
"I Just Want to Be in a Relationship" is a gem of a novel. If you're looking for a fluffy, heartwarming, and character-driven romance with a unique twist, I highly recommend giving this one a try. Be prepared for a serious case of the warm fuzzies and maybe even a few tears!
