My Thoughts on A Broken Mirror Never Mends

"A Broken Mirror Never Mends" is a heartwarming and quick read that left me with a smile. It's a story about self-acceptance, growth, and finding love that appreciates you for who you are. While it might not be the most groundbreaking story, it delivers a comforting dose of fluff and a satisfying resolution.

First Impressions

From the start, I was drawn in by the premise of a female lead overcoming her insecurities and pursuing her dreams. The short story format appealed to me, promising a concise and satisfying experience. The initial chapters quickly establish Yu Luo Lu's challenges and her determination, making it easy to root for her success.

What Works Well

The strength of this story lies in its characters and their relationships. Yu Luo Lu's journey of self-discovery is inspiring. Her stutter and background are presented as challenges she confronts head-on, refusing to let them define her. The male lead, Bu Chong Yuan, is a wonderful support system, appreciating her strengths and encouraging her growth. Their relationship is undeniably sweet and believable. I appreciated how their affection was mutual and they were able to acknowledge their feelings for each other in a straightforward manner.

The novel also explores the complexities of childhood friendships and how people change over time. The second male lead's story, while not the focus, adds a layer of depth and prompts reflection on the choices we make and their consequences.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning

Some reviews mention the childhood friend, He Hao, and his role in the story. He initially mistreats Yu Luo Lu, assuming she's in love with him, leading to an embarrassing revelation. While he later regrets his actions, Yu Luo Lu ultimately chooses to move on, recognizing that their past cannot be recreated.

Final Verdict

Overall, "A Broken Mirror Never Mends" is an enjoyable and heartwarming short story. It's perfect if you're looking for a sweet and easy read with likeable characters and a satisfying conclusion. While it may not delve into great depths or offer groundbreaking originality, it succeeds in delivering a comforting and uplifting experience. I found myself smiling throughout, and sometimes that's exactly what I need from a web novel. I'd recommend this to anyone seeking a dose of fluff and a reminder that self-acceptance and genuine love are always within reach.

Synopsis

My childhood friend started to dislike me, calling me a clingy, self-conscious stutterer. After I repeated a year and got into his school, he was annoyed and made every effort to distance himself from me. But he didn’t know that I wasn’t there for him. Later, I overcame my stutter and, during the freshman representative speech, I sincerely expressed my gratitude to the person I was most thankful for — my brother. My childhood friend stood up in a daze. But he was held down by another person. His roommate laughed arrogantly and carelessly. “Bro, step aside, you’re blocking my little sister from giving me flowers.”
