My Thoughts on Virtual World: The Legendary Thief
"Virtual World: The Legendary Thief" presents an interesting take on the VRMMORPG genre, but it definitely has some quirks that might not appeal to everyone. After diving in, I can see why it has a dedicated following, but also why some readers bounced off it.
First Impressions
The initial setup is definitely... unique. Our protagonist starts out working in a brothel, which is a bold choice. It certainly grabs your attention, but it also sets the stage for some of the issues I encountered later on. The transition from that life to a professional gamer felt a little abrupt, but I was willing to go along with it to see where the story would lead.
What Works Well
The novel shines when it focuses on the game itself. I enjoyed seeing the MC use his wits and past experiences to climb the ranks, rather than relying on lucky drops or overpowered abilities. The game mechanics, while perhaps simpler than some other VRMMORPGs, are engaging enough to keep you interested. I also appreciated the effort put into developing the side characters and giving them backstories. This helps to make the world feel more alive and the relationships more meaningful.

My biggest issue stems from the harem aspect.
