Who it's for, and whether it holds up.
A xianxia transmigration story centered on pill-making and a yaoi romance, and it does most of what it sets out to do without a lot of fuss. The progression from small village to larger continents to the immortal realm is paced well enough that you're rarely sitting in one place long enough to get bored. Plot threads get resolved rather than abandoned, which sounds like a low bar but isn't in this genre. The central romance is the warmest part of the story, even if it quiets down considerably once the cultivating and pill-obsessing take over.
The pill-making focus is either going to hook you or leave you cold. The story commits to it hard, with characters treating the MC's abilities with something close to reverence, and it becomes a consistent driver of both the plot and the humor.
A few things work against it. Side characters outside the main pair tend to exist mostly as obstacles or admirers. The face-slapping moments satisfy in the moment but can feel reflexive rather than earned. And past a certain point the protagonists stop facing any real danger, which drains some tension from the later arcs.
On a practical note: the translation site changes domains frequently and runs heavy advertising, so an adblocker is worth having ready before you start.
A solid read for low-angst cultivation with a genuine romantic core. Not groundbreaking, but it delivers what it promises.
