My Thoughts on This Omega is Immune to All Abilities
"This Omega is Immune to All Abilities" promised a fresh take on the ABO genre, and after diving in, I found a lot to appreciate, even if it wasn't perfect. The world-building is where it shines, presenting a society where ability, not gender, dictates social standing. This alone sets it apart from many omegaverse stories and had me hooked from the start.
First Impressions
I was immediately drawn in by the premise of an omega who isn't a damsel in distress. The idea of a calm, collected protagonist immune to all abilities navigating a world of power struggles felt both unique and intriguing. I also appreciated the comedic undertones, which kept things light and entertaining.
What Works Well
The dynamic between the main characters is definitely a highlight. The MC's naivety, stemming from a sheltered upbringing, is balanced by his surprising strength and intelligence. The ML, despite his intimidating ability and reputation, is a devoted and doting partner. Their relationship, while sometimes a bit too sweet, is genuinely heartwarming. I also loved the fact that omegas were treated as people and not breeding machines.
Many side characters were also memorable, and there were even a few side romances that caught my attention. The story also doesn't fall into the trap of making the MC and ML all-powerful saviors, which is a nice change of pace. They rely on each other and their elders, making the story feel more grounded and realistic.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall story, there were a few aspects that didn't quite hit the mark for me. The plot can be a bit slow at times, and some of the characters could have used more depth. The writing can be simplistic, and some of the plot points feel a little rushed, especially towards the end. I also noticed the plot felt more slice of life than action-packed.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers have pointed out issues with the ML's behavior after his confession, suggesting that he becomes manipulative and doesn't respect the MC's boundaries. While I didn't find it overly problematic, I can see how it could be a concern for some readers.
Final Verdict
Overall, "This Omega is Immune to All Abilities" is a fun and engaging read, especially if you're looking for an omegaverse story that subverts traditional tropes. While it's not without its flaws, the unique world-building, likeable characters, and heartwarming romance make it a worthwhile experience. I'd recommend it to fans of the genre who are looking for something a little different.
