My Thoughts on The Shepherds Are Dense
"The Shepherds Are Dense" (though I’ve seen it called "When the plot-skips players into the game world" elsewhere) has definitely grabbed my attention. Jumping into a new web novel is always a gamble, but this one feels like it has real potential.
First Impressions
The initial chapters are promising, immediately drawing you into a Victorian-esque world with a unique power system. The protagonist seems clever and observant, using subtle psychological tactics to navigate social situations. It feels like the author put in work to create this world and its power system.
What Works Well
The world-building is strong. The plot seems well-developed, and the characters are engaging enough to keep me interested. The author appears to have a knack for keeping the story flowing.
Areas of Concern
I've got to be honest, the translation quality is a mixed bag. While some find it surprisingly good for MTL, others have pointed out inconsistencies in names and stiff writing. I can see how this could be frustrating and pull you out of the story.
Final Verdict
Despite some translation hiccups, "The Shepherds Are Dense" seems like a worthwhile read if you're into fantasy, mystery, and unique power systems. The strong world-building, interesting characters, and engaging plot outweigh the translation issues for me. I'd recommend giving it a shot, but be prepared for some potentially rough patches in the translation.
