My Thoughts on The Healer Demands Payment!

"The Healer Demands Payment!" is a web novel that I found myself surprisingly drawn into. It blends comedy, fantasy, and a touch of romance within a xianxia setting. The premise of a reborn protagonist, determined to avoid past mistakes and reclaim her life through medical prowess, is immediately appealing.

First Impressions

Initially, I was intrigued by the MC's approach to her second chance. She's not just trying to survive, but actively shaping her destiny by demanding payment for her services, especially from those connected to the "Heaven's darling" of her previous life. This mercenary twist on a classic reincarnation story felt fresh, and I was eager to see how it would play out.

What Works Well

I appreciate the author's world-building. The cultivation aspects are detailed, and the unique elements, like the "Beyond the Heaven" region, added depth to the story. The MC is portrayed as a capable and intelligent woman, driven by her passion for medicine. Her determination to save lives, even when it inconveniences her, is admirable. I also enjoyed the quirky side characters, especially the red fox demon and the senior sister she meets later on. The translation is well done and easy to understand.

Areas of Concern

As the story progresses, I can see how some readers might find certain aspects repetitive or frustrating. The male leads regaining their memories and suddenly becoming devoted to the MC felt rushed and, at times, overshadowed the MC's own agency. While the initial premise of demanding payment was interesting, it seems that this aspect is quickly forgotten as the story continues. I also felt that the large harem quickly got annoying. ### Final Verdict

Despite some flaws, "The Healer Demands Payment!" is a fun and engaging read, especially if you enjoy cultivation novels with a strong female lead. While the plot may become a bit tedious at times, the overall story is enjoyable and well-written. If you're looking for a lighthearted fantasy with a touch of romance and don't mind a bit of a Mary Sue protagonist, this might be the novel for you. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Synopsis

Male cannon fodders who love the female lead, charge them triple fee! Male side characters who ambiguously entangled with the female lead, charge them 10 times! Male lead, the most important one, charged him 100 times! She single heartedly insisted on using money to distance herself from those men and drew a clear boundary between them. But her ability was too high, that the male lead and side characters from all over the world always came to her for help… She finally became the richest person in cultivation world!
