My Thoughts on The Blind Date is So Gentle
"The Blind Date is So Gentle" is quite the experience! It's a whirlwind of comedy, romance, and a touch of the supernatural, all wrapped around a central theme of memory loss. Did I enjoy it? Yes, but with a few caveats.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a bit disoriented, and I suspect that's intentional. The story throws you into the deep end, and it takes a while to get your bearings. It's the kind of story where you're meant to be confused until, suddenly, you aren't. That being said, the first chapter definitely sets the tone for a light-hearted and somewhat absurd journey.
What Works Well
The humor is definitely a strong point. The author has a knack for comedic writing that keeps you entertained even when you're scratching your head trying to figure out what's going on. The romance is also quite sweet, especially once the pieces start falling into place. The protagonist, despite being a "perverted crybaby" (as some might say), is endearing in his own way. World-building felt a bit lacking. The concepts of sentinels and guides, which seem central to the story, weren't always explained clearly, leaving me with some unanswered questions. Also, the plot can feel a bit disjointed at times. The memory loss element, while central to the plot, sometimes felt like a convenient plot device rather than something deeply explored.

The biggest spoiler, of course, is that the MC's blind date is actually his long-lost lover from before his amnesia. This reveal adds a layer of sweetness to the story, but I do wish the reasons behind their initial secrecy and the recurring memory loss were explored in more depth. It is mentioned that the reason for the ML not visiting the MC in the hospital was inconsistent.
