My Thoughts on Shinde Hajimaru
"Shinde Hajimaru" had me hooked from the start with its blend of comedy, fantasy, and gender-bending elements. The premise alone – reincarnation as a female twin in a world of demi-humans, monsters, and magic – is enough to pique anyone's interest. It promised a unique adventure, and for a brief moment, it delivered.
First Impressions
My initial impression was definitely positive. The opening chapters are well-paced and introduce the world and characters effectively. The humor landed well, and the protagonist's situation, though bizarre, was compelling. I was eager to see how the story would unfold and how the protagonist would navigate their new life.
What Works Well
The concept is undeniably creative. The blend of genres felt fresh, and I appreciated the author's willingness to explore potentially complex themes with a lighthearted touch. The world-building, though limited by the story's premature end, showed promise. I could easily imagine this world expanding into something truly special. My biggest concern, and unfortunately the most significant flaw, is the story's abrupt ending. It feels like a cruel joke to get invested in a world and characters only to have the rug pulled out from under you. The lack of continuation leaves a gaping hole in what could have been a truly enjoyable series. While the initial chapters were strong, the lack of resolution ultimately overshadows any positive aspects. I can't help but feel disappointed and frustrated by the unrealized potential.
Final Verdict
It pains me to give "Shinde Hajimaru" a lukewarm recommendation. The initial chapters are genuinely entertaining, and the premise is captivating. However, the unfinished nature of the story makes it difficult to fully embrace. If you're willing to invest in a story that will ultimately leave you hanging, then give it a try. But be warned, you might be left wanting more... much more.
