My Thoughts on Seven Days Escape Game
Alright, buckle up, because "Seven Days Escape Game" is a wild ride! This novel throws you headfirst into a series of deadly games, and if you're anything like me, you'll be hooked from the start. With its blend of action, horror, psychological elements, and even a dash of romance (yaoi, to be specific), it's a novel that definitely keeps you on your toes.
First Impressions
My initial impression was a bit chaotic, but in a good way. The story dives right in, and I immediately appreciated the high stakes. The premise is simple: survive a series of deadly games with only seven days of rest in between. But trust me, the execution is anything but simple. The world-building is intriguing, hinting at a larger mystery behind the games and why Earth is the way it is.
What Works Well
What I enjoyed most was the unpredictable nature of the arcs. Each game is completely different, forcing the characters (and me, the reader) to adapt quickly. It's a great mix of puzzle-solving and survival, where figuring out the rules is just as important as running from the monsters. I also appreciated the focus on the relationships between the characters. There are two main couples, and their interactions add a layer of depth to the story, providing moments of levity amidst the chaos. The characters are forced to rely on each other, building strong bonds in the face of constant danger. The author does a fantastic job of balancing the horror and action with these more tender moments. I found myself genuinely invested in their survival and happiness.
Areas of Concern
The sheer number of characters can be a bit overwhelming at times. Keeping track of everyone's names and relationships definitely required some effort on my part. Also, the system in the novel is essentially useless, which can be a bit frustrating. However, in a way, the fact that the system provides no assistance actually raises the stakes and forces the characters to rely on their own wits and abilities.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, heads up! There are some major plot twists that you might want to experience firsthand. So proceed with caution! It seems one of the main characters dies in the third arc, but is revived later on. There are also some intense moments in the final game that could be a bit shocking. You've been warned!
Final Verdict
Overall, "Seven Days Escape Game" is a thrilling and engaging novel that I would definitely recommend. If you're looking for a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat with its unique blend of horror, action, and romance, this is the one for you. Just be prepared for a wild ride! I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
