My Thoughts on His Little Deer Wife is Very Fierce
"His Little Deer Wife is Very Fierce" promised a unique blend of fluff, mystery, and a touch of horror, and for the most part, it delivered a captivating read. I found myself quickly drawn into the world of young Lu Rong, a child with a secret and a tragic past. The story is relatively short, but it manages to pack quite a punch, exploring themes of abandonment, childhood love, and overcoming trauma.
First Impressions
The initial chapters grabbed my attention immediately. The author wastes no time throwing you into Lu Rong's difficult circumstances, and I was instantly invested in his well-being. The introduction of the male lead, and their subsequent summer together, offered a delightful mix of innocence and adventure. The early interactions are really fun and quite adorable.
What Works Well
I particularly enjoyed the world-building and the author's ability to create memorable characters. Lu Rong, the little deer himself, is incredibly endearing, and I found myself rooting for him every step of the way. The blending of genres is also well-executed. While the "horror" elements might be more accurately described as "intense" or "creepy," they added a layer of intrigue that kept me engaged. The translation is also well done, making it easy to get lost in the story. The romance, especially the childhood aspect, is sweet and heartwarming. I especially liked the flashbacks to their younger years.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the novel overall, I can see why some might find the ending a bit rushed. The mystery surrounding Lu Rong's past and the supernatural elements are resolved rather quickly, and I would have appreciated a bit more depth in these areas. Also, there are some parts that were confusing until the very end.
