My Thoughts on Picked Up by the Heroine After Becoming a Zombie
First Impressions
Okay, so Picked Up by the Heroine After Becoming a Zombie is a mouthful, but the premise definitely grabbed my attention. Gender bender, zombie apocalypse, and shoujo ai? That's a wild combination! I went in expecting something either incredibly amazing or a total train wreck. Thankfully, it landed somewhere in between, offering a unique experience that kept me reading.
What Works Well
The dynamic between the female lead (FL) and the zombie MC is definitely the heart of this story. It's undeniably cute, and their interactions provide a much-needed dose of levity in an otherwise bleak, apocalyptic world. I found myself genuinely invested in their relationship and how it developed throughout the story. I also appreciated that the power system felt fresh. It's not just about raw strength; the characters rely heavily on weapons and strategy, which made the fight scenes more engaging. The author has clearly put thought into how the world functions, and I enjoyed learning more about it.
Areas of Concern
While the FL and MC relationship is a strong point, I did find some of the side characters a bit lacking. They weren't necessarily bad, but they faded into the background, making it difficult to really care about them. There was one character that the author seemed to be setting up for a bigger role, perhaps as a final antagonist, but I wasn't entirely convinced by their development. It felt a little rushed, and I didn't quite buy into their motivations.
Final Verdict
Overall, Picked Up by the Heroine After Becoming a Zombie is an enjoyable read with a strong central relationship and an interesting take on the zombie apocalypse genre. While some of the side characters could use more development, the unique power system and the heartwarming dynamic between the FL and MC make it worth checking out. If you're looking for something a little different with plenty of cute moments and a dash of action, this might just be the story for you.
