My Thoughts on My CP Rumor With The Movie Queen Has Gone Viral
This web novel promises a sweet and comedic romance between a D-list actress and a celebrated movie queen, and for the most part, it delivers. While it has some flaws, the overall experience was enjoyable, especially if you're looking for a lighthearted read.
First Impressions
The premise is definitely what drew me in. A chance encounter leading to viral CP rumors? Sign me up! The initial chapters are strong, setting up the dynamic between the seemingly naive Ruan Jinghong and the powerful, calculating Wen Jin. I was immediately invested in seeing how their relationship would develop amidst the pressures of the entertainment industry.
What Works Well
I found the characters to be a major strength. Ruan Jinghong, despite being described as a "little fool," is actually quite intelligent and grounded. Her naivete comes from inexperience, not stupidity, which I appreciated. Wen Jin, the "ice queen," is a total simp for Ruan Jinghong, which leads to many humorous situations. Their interactions are genuinely funny and heartwarming, and I found myself rooting for them. The author does a good job of portraying both characters with their own set of blind spots and insecurities, making them feel relatable. I also enjoyed the inclusion of netizen comments, which added a fun, meta layer to the story.
Areas of Concern
⚠️ Spoiler Warning ⚠️
However, I can't ignore some serious issues raised by other readers. Several people mentioned a problematic scene around chapter 76 involving Wen Jin taking advantage of Ruan Jinghong while she's drunk. This is a major red flag, and I understand why many readers dropped the story because of it. It's disappointing that the author seemingly defends this behavior in their notes, which is even more concerning.
Another common criticism is the length of the variety show arc. Apparently, it takes up a significant portion of the novel, and some readers found it boring and filled with unnecessary side characters. I can see how this could disrupt the flow of the story and detract from the main romance.
Final Verdict
Despite its flaws, I still found "My CP Rumor With The Movie Queen Has Gone Viral" to be an enjoyable read overall. The central romance is sweet and funny, and the characters are well-developed. However, the problematic scene and the pacing issues are definitely worth considering before diving in. If you're willing to overlook these flaws and are looking for a fluffy, lighthearted yuri romance, this novel might be for you. Just be aware of the potential triggers and be prepared for some slow pacing in the middle.
