My Thoughts on Lovable Package
"Lovable Package" is a completed original web novel in the shounen ai and xuanhuan genres. With a 3.9/5 rating, it seems to have garnered a fairly positive response, but I needed to see for myself what all the fuss was about. After diving in, I have some thoughts.
First Impressions
Going in, I knew this was supposed to be a fluffy, cute story with a dense protagonist and a devoted love interest. The tags like "amnesia," "clingy lover," and "doting love interests" painted a clear picture. It seemed like the kind of novel you pick up when you want something light and sweet, a palate cleanser after heavier reads. And, for the most part, that's what I got.
What Works Well
The main draw of "Lovable Package" is undoubtedly its sweetness. Many readers praised the adorable interactions between the MC and ML. It's the kind of story where the ML falls head-over-heels almost instantly and proceeds to spoil the MC relentlessly. If you're a fan of pure, unadulterated fluff, this might be right up your alley. I could see myself enjoying this for a relaxing and cute read.
Areas of Concern
While the fluff is definitely a selling point, it's also where some of the criticisms arise. Some readers found the MC to be too clueless and dependent, lacking any real agency. The plot is often described as thin, serving mostly as a backdrop for the romance. I can understand how this would be frustrating for readers seeking a more substantial narrative. Also, several readers cautioned against comparing this to "Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil," stating that the only similarities are the transmigration aspect and the BL genre. Apparently, the MCs are polar opposites, and "Lovable Package" lacks the complex plots and darker themes of the former.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers mentioned the different worlds visited by the MC, including a priest/fox world and a vampire/vampire hunter scenario. They also noted that the ML is the same person in every world.
Final Verdict
"Lovable Package" seems to be a hit-or-miss kind of novel. If you're looking for a deep, intricate plot with well-developed characters, this probably isn't for you. However, if you're in the mood for a light, fluffy read with a cute and spoiled MC and a doting ML, it might just hit the spot. Just be prepared to embrace the sweetness and leave your expectations for complex storytelling at the door. I think if you know what you're getting into, you'll enjoy "Lovable Package" for what it is: a sugary-sweet escape.
