My Thoughts on Great God, I’ll Support You
"Great God, I'll Support You" is a delightful dive into the world of online gaming romance, and I found myself surprisingly invested in this fluffy, heartwarming story. It’s a complete novel, although the translation is ongoing, so be prepared to potentially MTL some chapters if you can't wait!
First Impressions
Initially, the first chapter, which is quite heavy on game explanations, was a little difficult to get through. However, once I pushed past that, I was immediately charmed by the main character, Ning Xin. She's a bit of a "natural fool" as some readers put it, and her naivete is both endearing and hilarious. Her decision to "keep" the top warrior in the game is just so cute!
What Works Well
What really shines in this novel is the character development, particularly Ning Xin's. She starts as this sheltered, almost clueless girl, but she grows into someone willing to face hardship for the sake of her love. The male lead, on the other hand, is a perfect "male god" with a tragic backstory that made me sympathize with him. I loved how the author created a unique ML. He is OP but has a weak heart and is estranged from his father. Their relationship, both in and out of the game, is adorable and the author did a great job of giving depth to their relationship.
The comedy is also spot-on, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. The romance is sweet and touching, and I appreciated how the story explored what it truly means to be a couple. The parents of the FL are also goals.
Areas of Concern
Honestly, my biggest complaint is that the novel felt too short! I wanted more side stories, a proper wedding scene, and glimpses into their future with children. I also noticed some readers found the writing confusing at times, perhaps due to MTL translations.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, let's talk spoilers! The male lead has a congenital heart disease and is destined to have a short life. The FL is willing to grow up and face all sorts of hardship to be with the one she loves.
Final Verdict
Despite its minor flaws, "Great God, I'll Support You" is a heartwarming and enjoyable read. I laughed, I cried, and I found myself completely invested in Ning Xin and her "Great God." If you're looking for a fluffy, feel-good story with a touch of drama and a strong emphasis on character development, I highly recommend giving this one a try. I'm giving it a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars. Just be prepared to reach for the tissues!
