My Thoughts on Every Meal
"Every Meal" promised a cute and smutty slice-of-life romance, and for the most part, it delivered. I went in expecting a lighthearted read, and I wasn't disappointed. The dynamic between the main characters is definitely the highlight, and I found myself smiling throughout the story.
First Impressions
The premise is simple: a cute, fashion-conscious office worker (our MC) tries to attract a lover by dressing up every day, and a humble neighborhood butcher (the ML) has been admiring him from afar. I was immediately drawn in by the "ordinary people" aspect. No CEOs or powerful figures here, just relatable characters with everyday jobs.
What Works Well
The sweetness is definitely a major draw. The MC is adorable and hilarious, and the ML is incredibly doting and gentle. I appreciated that the romance felt earned; the characters take the time to flirt and build a connection before jumping into bed. The author's style is straightforward, focusing on character interactions and a slow-burn romance, which I found refreshing. The side stories, particularly the one featuring the MC's cross-dressing best friend, also sound incredibly promising and add depth to the world.
The smut, while a significant part of the story, is well-written and descriptive. I particularly liked that the author focused on foreplay and building intimacy before the "main event." The ML's slight inferiority complex, stemming from his feeling that he couldn't provide for the MC, added a layer of realism to their relationship, and I loved how the MC reassured him. The fact that the characters are down to earth and appreciate each other for who they are, not what they have, is a major plus.
Areas of Concern
While the detailed smut scenes are a selling point for some, I can see how the author's overuse of metaphors during those scenes might not appeal to everyone. If you prefer more direct descriptions, this might be a bit much.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
The review mentions a side story with the MC's best friend who is a cross-dresser and his bodyguard.
Final Verdict
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed "Every Meal." It's a cute, sweet, and spicy story with lovable characters and a heartwarming romance. If you're in the mood for a lighthearted, smutty read with a focus on character development and a down-to-earth relationship, I highly recommend giving this one a try. I'd rate it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
