My Thoughts on Dragons Flies Phoenix Dances

"Dragons Flies Phoenix Dances" is a web novel that left me with a mix of emotions. It's a blend of historical romance, martial arts action, and a central mystery that kept me turning the pages, even when I felt a little frustrated with the characters. While I ultimately enjoyed the journey, it wasn't without its bumps.

First Impressions

The premise immediately grabbed my attention: an amnesiac female lead, thrust into a complex family situation and a seemingly loveless marriage. I was intrigued by the mystery surrounding her past and the secrets that slowly unravelled as the story progressed. The initial chapters were promising, setting the stage for a compelling narrative.

What Works Well

The strongest aspect of this novel is undoubtedly its intricate plot. The author skillfully weaves together clues and red herrings, keeping me guessing about the FL's true identity and the events that led to her amnesia. I also appreciated the well-written fight scenes, which were surprisingly detailed and engaging. The comedic undertones provided a welcome relief from the heavier themes of betrayal and loss, and I found myself chuckling at the characters' interactions. The conclusion was satisfying and brought closure to the central conflicts.

Areas of Concern

My biggest issue lies with the characters, particularly the female lead. While I initially sympathized with her amnesia and vulnerability, her clinginess and dependency on the male lead became grating. I found it difficult to reconcile her martial arts prowess with her emotional fragility. The male lead's behavior also raised some red flags for me. His initial coldness towards the FL, coupled with his later deception regarding her past, made it hard to fully root for their romance. I also felt that the FL's tantrums, while perhaps understandable given her circumstances, detracted from her overall character.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning

Several plot points could be considered spoilers, so proceed with caution! Some readers mentioned the FL's pregnancy and the complications it introduces into the relationship. There are also concerns about the ML withholding information about the FL's past and his dubious actions towards her. These events significantly impact the characters' development and the overall tone of the story.

Final Verdict

Despite my reservations about the characters, "Dragons Flies Phoenix Dances" is a worthwhile read for those who enjoy intricate plots, historical settings, and a touch of romance. While the FL's clinginess and the ML's questionable actions may test your patience, the overarching mystery and the satisfying resolution make it an ultimately engaging experience. I'd rate it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

After waking up from a heavy fall and knocked her head, she is now polite, treats people in good faith, and tries her best to get on her husband’s good side. No matter what she did, the past could not be undone and despite having no memories of it, Feng Ning calmly accepts her fate and slowly tries to mend things back. But why must fate be cruel to her?
