My Thoughts on Delicious Food Got Me Famous Across the Galaxy
"Delicious Food Got Me Famous Across the Galaxy" promised a delightful blend of sci-fi, cooking, and romance, and while it delivered some sweetness, I found myself ultimately wanting more. It's a quick read, perfect for a single sitting, but be prepared for a story that feels a bit like a delicious appetizer rather than a satisfying main course.
First Impressions
I was immediately drawn in by the premise: a chef from Earth transmigrating to a futuristic, food-deprived galaxy and using his culinary skills to rise to fame. The initial chapters were promising, introducing a likeable protagonist and a world ripe with potential. The hints of an ABO setting, a mysterious past, and a handsome, amnesiac love interest all piqued my interest.
What Works Well
The food descriptions are definitely a highlight. I could almost taste the dishes as I read, and the MC's passion for cooking is infectious. I also appreciated the relatively low-drama approach. The relationship between the MC and ML develops naturally, based on cohabitation and mutual respect, which I found refreshing. The MC's carefree attitude and unexpected actions also added a layer of amusement to the story, making it an enjoyable experience. The translation is also well done, which made the story easy to read.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue is the pacing. The story feels rushed, cramming too many plot elements into too few chapters. Political power struggles, intergalactic wars, a corrupted chef association – all these intriguing threads are introduced but never fully explored. The romance, while sweet, also feels somewhat abrupt, lacking the build-up that would have made it truly compelling. The ending, in particular, felt truncated, leaving me with unanswered questions and a sense of unfulfilled potential. The ABO setting felt a bit superficial, mainly being used for bathroom humor. While the story is cute, I feel it could have been much more.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers mentioned that the male lead threatens the MC's life and has discriminatory views towards omegas, which may be a turn-off for some.
Final Verdict
"Delicious Food Got Me Famous Across the Galaxy" is a light, fluffy read that's perfect for a quick escape. While the plot feels rushed and underdeveloped, the charming characters, mouthwatering food descriptions, and low-drama romance make it an enjoyable experience. If you're looking for a complex, intricately plotted story, this isn't it. But if you want a sweet, easy read that will leave you craving hot pot, give it a try. I'd rate it a solid 3.5/5.
