My Thoughts on Cannon Fodder’s Daily Routine
This novel is… well, it's certainly something. "Cannon Fodder's Daily Routine" throws you headfirst into a world of harems, smut, and a protagonist whose life takes a very unexpected turn. Be warned, this is an adult novel through and through, so if you're not into mature themes, this one probably isn't for you.
First Impressions
My initial reaction was a mix of shock and morbid curiosity. The premise is bonkers: a supposedly straight guy gets transmigrated into a novel with the task of bedding a whole cast of male characters. I went in expecting something ridiculous, and I definitely got that, but I also found myself surprisingly entertained.
What Works Well
The biggest draw for me was the sheer absurdity of it all. The author doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's a good thing. The male leads are all unique and, despite the potentially problematic premise, they are surprisingly likeable. It seems the MC's charm is infectious, as everyone, including me, became invested in his… endeavors. What really elevates this novel is the protagonist himself. He's not some hyper-masculine, forceful jerk. He's often awkward, sometimes even a bit of a wimp, which makes his transformation and acceptance of his new role all the more amusing. The system element adds a layer of comedic chaos, as it's just as unreliable as the MC.
Areas of Concern
If I had one major criticism, it's that the story can feel a little hypocritical at times. The MC is portrayed as being possessive of his lovers, wanting them only for himself, while he himself has multiple partners. This created a slight dissonance for me, and I could see how some readers might find it problematic. Also, the side stories seem to lose some of the main story's charm.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, here comes the spoiler-y bit. Apparently, the MC ends up with seven lovers, including his stepbrother, stepfather, a mafia boss, and even his dormmate! The mafia boss storyline is particularly interesting, as it seems like he was the most challenging to win over, but even he eventually succumbed to the MC's… charms. And the descriptions of the various intimate encounters are, shall we say, detailed.
Final Verdict
"Cannon Fodder's Daily Routine" is a guilty pleasure, plain and simple. It's not high literature, but it is undeniably entertaining. If you're looking for a novel with a harem, plenty of smut, and a protagonist who goes from zero to polyamorous hero, then give this one a try. Just be prepared to question your own morality along the way! I give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
