Who it's for, and whether it holds up.
This is a collection of short-form smut arcs, each a few chapters, each self-contained. It doesn't build toward anything; it just delivers on its premise across a rotating cast of scenarios. That's the whole product, and it mostly fulfills its brief.
The translation quality is consistently good, which matters more here than in novels where atmosphere and prose texture are secondary concerns. The arc-based structure works in the reader's favor: you can skip anything that doesn't interest you without losing narrative thread. Each scenario brings a different backdrop, and that variety keeps the collection from feeling completely static.
The main criticisms are earned, though. The descriptions and dialogue patterns repeat across arcs, and by the midpoint the action has settled into familiar rhythms. The intersex characters present in some arcs are written in ways that several readers found reductive, essentially functional as female characters with one additional trait rather than as BL characters with a distinct dynamic. That's a legitimate criticism of the representation, not just a taste issue.
This is a 4.1 for readers already oriented toward this genre, and the rating is appropriate for that audience. There's no ambiguity about what Brothel Open for Business is offering. If that's what you want, the quality is acceptable and the format is convenient. If you're hoping for anything beyond the explicit content itself, including plot, character work, or tonal variety, this collection won't have it.
