My Thoughts on After Rebirth, I Was Entangled with the Tyrant
This novel was quite the rollercoaster, a charming blend of school life fluff and second-chance redemption. While it wasn't exactly what I expected going in, I found myself enjoying the ride, even with its occasional bumps.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise of a reborn protagonist using future knowledge to protect his family. I anticipated a story brimming with shrewd business maneuvers and satisfying revenge plots. However, the focus quickly shifted to a sweet, slow-burn romance unfolding amidst the backdrop of high school. It wasn't a bad thing, just different from my initial expectations!
What Works Well
The heart of this story lies in the relationship between Chi Fang and Yu Mo. Many readers have praised the natural development of their feelings. I especially appreciated that Yu Mo remained consistently himself throughout the story. He didn't magically transform into a warm, affectionate partner overnight. Instead, his affection was shown through small, considerate gestures, which I found incredibly endearing. I also liked that Chi Fang wasn't completely clueless about Yu Mo's feelings, which is a refreshing change from the often-dense protagonists in this genre. The familial love aspect was also a strong point, with supportive parents and siblings adding warmth to the narrative. Plus, the comedy in the initial chapters had me laughing out loud!
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall story, there were a few aspects that didn't quite click for me. For one, the "revenge" plot felt somewhat underdeveloped. I was hoping for more impactful face-slapping moments, but the resolution felt a bit rushed and underwhelming. Also, while the slice-of-life aspect was charming, some found the school setting a bit too juvenile, longing for a more mature protagonist tackling the business world.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning ⚠️
Okay, let's talk about the ending and the extras. The parallel universe concept was interesting, but also a bit bittersweet. The idea that the original MC and ML from the first universe never truly got their happy ending together was a bit of a downer. And personally, I wish we got to see adult MC and ML meet instead of their younger selves.
Final Verdict
Overall, I'd say After Rebirth, I Was Entangled with the Tyrant is a worthwhile read if you're in the mood for a light, fluffy, and heartwarming romance with a touch of second-chance goodness. Just be prepared for a more slice-of-life focus than a revenge-driven plot. Despite its flaws, the charming characters and sweet romance make it an enjoyable and satisfying story.
