My Thoughts on After Becoming Enemies With the Lord God
"After Becoming Enemies With the Lord God" promised a wild ride, and honestly, it delivered. This novel blends fantasy, romance, and xianxia with a comedic twist that kept me hooked. The premise alone – enemies to lovers with a demon lord and a god – was enough to pique my interest, and the execution didn't disappoint.
First Impressions
Initially, I found the protagonist, the MC, to be a bit…much. He's certainly confident, bordering on arrogant, and his actions can seem extreme at first. However, as the story unfolded, I grew to appreciate his character. His motivations became clearer, and I ended up rooting for him and his chaotic brand of justice. The early arcs, particularly the first two, grabbed my attention immediately with their clever banter and intriguing backstories.
What Works Well
The dynamic between the MC and ML is the heart of this novel. The "wife chasing" journey, as some call it, is endlessly entertaining. I loved seeing the Lord God, usually so high and mighty, completely devoted to the MC. The author does a fantastic job of balancing the power dynamic, making them a true power couple.
I also appreciated the complexity of the plot, especially the way time and different worlds are interwoven. It's not just a simple transmigration story; there's a deeper mystery at play that keeps you guessing. The concept of interconnected fates and timelines circling back on each other is brilliantly executed, adding layers of depth to what initially seems like a lighthearted romance. The world-hopping aspect is fun, and the system adds a quirky, almost useless-but-endearing, element to the story.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall story, the later arcs didn't quite hit the same highs as the beginning. Some of the arcs felt less engaging, and the ending, while providing closure, was a little anticlimactic. It felt rushed, like a summary rather than a fully realized conclusion. Also, while the "crematorium" aspect is present, it's not as intense as some readers might expect.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
The reviews contain spoilers related to the plot and character relationships. Be warned that the following may ruin your reading experience if you haven't read the novel.
- The MC and ML are a fire demon and sun god, respectively.
- The MC knows who the ML is from the first arc.
- The world-hopping is the ML's way of making up to the MC.
- The more worlds the MC travels, the less initial feelings the ML has for him.
Final Verdict
Despite some minor flaws, "After Becoming Enemies With the Lord God" is a highly enjoyable read. The strong characters, engaging plot, and unique blend of genres make it a standout in the web novel landscape. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, romantic, and thought-provoking story with a healthy dose of humor and a satisfying conclusion. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
