My Thoughts on Accidentally Attacked a Great Demon King
This web novel, "Accidentally Attacked a Great Demon King," definitely took me on a ride! It's a world-hopping romance with plenty of action and a dash of the supernatural, and overall, I found it a pretty enjoyable experience.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a little hesitant. World-hopping stories can be hit or miss, but I was quickly drawn into the premise. The idea of a seemingly straight protagonist falling for a "cutie tsundere bottom" after just one world definitely piqued my interest. The first arc was a bit chaotic, I'll admit, and I felt like I was thrown into the deep end, but I quickly found my footing.
What Works Well
The romance is a major highlight. The relationship between the MC and the Demon King develops gradually, which I appreciated. The author does a good job of fleshing out each world and its supporting characters, despite the shorter arc lengths. Each arc was exciting and fulfilling, with a perfect balance of angst and fluff, and the MC’s witty personality and the unique approaches he took with each remnant soul of the ML was a lot of fun to read. The MC's ability to quickly analyze situations and accept his feelings also made him a compelling character to follow. I also appreciated the balance of angst and fluff. While there's definitely some heartbreak, the story ultimately delivers a happy ending. The ending was warm and sweet, and the MTL is easy to understand.
Areas of Concern
I do agree that some of the arcs felt a little abrupt. The endings sometimes lacked resolution, and I wished for a more comprehensive finale that tied all the worlds together. The baby, who appears at the very end, has a minor role in the story.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, let's talk about the angst. The MC sacrificing himself for the ML in almost every world is a recurring theme. Also, the fact that the Demon King's souls become a part of him can be a little sad.
Final Verdict
Despite some minor shortcomings, "Accidentally Attacked a Great Demon King" is a worthwhile read. If you're looking for a quick, engaging story with a good balance of romance, action, and a touch of angst, this one is definitely worth checking out. I'd say it's a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
