My Thoughts on Yes, I’m Straight. But What Have I Done Wrong?
First Impressions
Okay, I dove into Yes, I’m Straight. But What Have I Done Wrong? expecting a fluffy, comedic romp, and for the most part, that's what I got. The premise alone – a super dense straight guy unwittingly caught in the middle of a budding romance between his roommates – had me chuckling from the start. The MC is definitely the heart of this story, a pure and innocent soul whose obliviousness creates some truly hilarious situations.
What Works Well
The humor is definitely a highlight. I found myself laughing out loud at the MC's antics and misunderstandings. The author does a great job of creating awkward yet endearing scenarios. I also really enjoyed the slow-burn romance that starts to develop for our MC, particularly with "Glasses Guy". Their interactions are sweet and feel organic, and I'm rooting for them! I appreciate that the story, for the most part, maintains a lighthearted tone with minimal heavy drama, which made it a relaxing and enjoyable read.
Areas of Concern
While I found the MC's denseness amusing, I can see how it might grate on some readers. At times, it felt a little too extreme, bordering on unbelievable. I also had some issues with the MC's roommates. Their constant use of him as a "shield" for their relationship felt a bit manipulative and selfish. I felt frustrated that the MC was constantly being taken advantage of, and I just wanted to shake them and tell them to be better friends.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers expressed concerns about the ML's behavior later in the story, describing it as manipulative and pushy. While I haven't gotten that far in the story yet myself, these concerns are worth noting if you're sensitive to those themes.
Final Verdict
Overall, I found Yes, I’m Straight. But What Have I Done Wrong? to be a cute and funny read, perfect for when you're in the mood for something light and fluffy. While the MC's denseness and the roommates' behavior can be frustrating at times, the humor and the potential for a sweet romance make it worth checking out. Just be aware of potential issues with the ML's character later on in the story. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
