My Thoughts on Working Records in a Weird World
"Working Records in a Weird World" has been quite the ride so far! With its blend of comedy, horror, romance, and that distinct yaoi flavor, it certainly stands out in the infinite flow genre. I jumped in expecting the usual dungeon-crawling suspense, but what I found was something far more unique and, honestly, hilarious.
First Impressions
Initially, I was a bit thrown off by the dynamic between the MC and the ML. The ML's… intense personality, to put it mildly, and his initial desire to off the MC is definitely a bold move. However, the way their relationship evolves is a major draw. The enemies-to-lovers trope is strong here, and I found myself invested in seeing how these two twisted characters would eventually find their way to each other.
What Works Well
The humor in this novel is top-notch. The MC's overpowered nature, combined with his somewhat oblivious reactions to the bizarre situations around him, creates some genuinely funny moments. I particularly enjoy the contrast between the MC's "pure good" intentions and the ML's morally skewed worldview. The author does a fantastic job of balancing these opposing forces, leading to some truly entertaining interactions.
The translator deserves a shout-out! The frequent, high-quality updates make it easy to stay engaged with the story. It’s clear that a lot of care and effort is being put into bringing this world to life.
Areas of Concern
While I'm enjoying the overall story, I do have some minor reservations. Some of the side characters can feel a bit one-dimensional, and their reactions to the MC occasionally border on nonsensical. Their forum interactions, in particular, sometimes feel out of place in a world where survival should be the top priority.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, buckle up because we're diving into spoiler territory! The ML's obsession with the MC is both hilarious and slightly terrifying. The fact that he's actively trying not to fall for the MC, due to the potential for being controlled, only makes his inevitable slide into infatuation all the more entertaining. And the MC's affection level towards the ML being significantly lower? Chef's kiss!
Final Verdict
Despite a few minor flaws, "Working Records in a Weird World" is a refreshing and entertaining addition to the infinite flow genre. The unique CP dynamic, the humor, and the MC's overpowered nature make it a worthwhile read. Just be warned: it's ongoing, so prepare to be left wanting more! I would recommend this novel if you enjoy a strong MC and a ML who has to work for the MC's affection.
