My Thoughts on Woke Up, The Love Game Became A Thriller
This novel certainly took me on a wild ride! Woke Up, The Love Game Became A Thriller is a blend of genres I didn't know I needed, and while it has its shortcomings, it's a genuinely entertaining read.
First Impressions
Initially, I was drawn in by the premise. The idea of a "love game" turning into a thriller had me intrigued, and I was hoping for a good balance of romance and suspense. The beginning definitely delivers on the horror aspect, with the MC navigating dangerous scenarios made all the more interesting by the involvement of the NPCs.
What Works Well
What I enjoyed most was the protagonist's cleverness. He's witty and resourceful, often managing to outsmart the system and the characters around him. The comedic elements are also well-placed, providing a much-needed levity to the otherwise dark and thrilling atmosphere. The blending of horror and humor really elevated the experience for me. The world-building within each arc is well-done, creating unsettling and immersive environments that kept me hooked.
Areas of Concern
One of my main issues was the confusing nature of the plot, especially towards the end. The layers of inception within the MC's backstory became convoluted, leaving me with unanswered questions and a sense of disorientation. The romance felt underdeveloped. While the male lead is present, the relationship lacks depth and emotional resonance. His character felt somewhat flat and stereotypical. The ending was definitely confusing and I struggled to put the pieces together.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some readers have pointed out that the male lead is the creator of the "Dead Game" and stalks the main character. This is done to help the main character to live. There is also the question of the MC's memory loss and whether or not he played the game before.
Final Verdict
Overall, I'd give Woke Up, The Love Game Became A Thriller a 3.5 out of 5. Despite the confusing plot and lackluster romance, the clever protagonist, thrilling scenarios, and comedic moments make it a worthwhile read. If you're looking for a novel that blends horror and humor with a touch of romance, this might be right up your alley. Just be prepared for a bit of confusion along the way!
