My Thoughts on Venerated Venomous Consort
"Venerated Venomous Consort" is quite the mixed bag, and diving into it was definitely a journey. It's a xuanhuan story with a transmigrated assassin MC, a trope I'm generally fond of, but this one had some serious highs and lows that kept me on my toes.
First Impressions
Initially, I was intrigued by the premise – a modern assassin reincarnating into an ancient China setting. The idea of a skilled killer navigating court intrigue and martial arts sounded like a fun ride. However, I quickly realized that the initial chapters, while promising, didn't quite deliver on the depth I was hoping for. It felt like the story was rushing through important plot points, and I didn't get the chance to connect with the characters as much as I wanted to.
What Works Well
One thing that stood out was the humor. The interactions between the female lead (FL) and the male lead (ML) are genuinely funny, providing some lighthearted moments amidst the often-serious plot. I also appreciated the FL's cunning and resourcefulness. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty, and I enjoyed seeing her outsmart her enemies, even if some of her methods felt a bit convenient at times. Some readers have mentioned that the FL starts out strong, but the story as a whole doesn't really hit its stride until well past chapter 200.
