My Thoughts on The Crown Prince I’m Raising Has Turned Evil

"The Crown Prince I'm Raising Has Turned Evil" is a web novel that completely sucked me in. I went in expecting a simple story about a tutor and her student, but I found a deeply complex narrative with compelling characters and intricate political intrigue. This novel kept me hooked, and I'm eager to share my thoughts.

First Impressions

Initially, the summary gave me the impression that the story would heavily focus on the female lead (MC) guiding a naive crown prince. While that element is definitely present, it's only a fraction of what this story offers. I was immediately drawn to the MC, Xie Linlang; she's incredibly capable and sticks to her values, making her a refreshing character in the genre.

What Works Well

The character development is phenomenal. The relationship between the MC and ML is one of the healthiest I've encountered. They see each other as equals, respect each other's agency, and trust one another. The MC doesn't suddenly become a damsel in distress, and the ML isn't just a brooding stereotype. Their growth as individuals and as a couple feels natural and earned.

I also appreciated the intricate plot. The political schemes are cleverly woven, and the author doesn't rely on cheap drama or brainless villains. Each character has a purpose, and even seemingly minor characters reappear and play significant roles later on. The story is also fast-paced, despite its length. I was never bored, and I found myself constantly wanting to know what would happen next.

Areas of Concern

While I loved the story overall, I do have a few minor criticisms. Some felt the synopsis was misleading. Also, some points of the story felt rushed. The ending, while satisfying, could have been more fleshed out.

⚠️ Spoiler Warning

Some readers pointed out that the ML doesn't suspect that the MC is a woman until well past the halfway point. Also, the MC's backstory is complex and revealed gradually throughout the story.

Final Verdict

Despite a few minor flaws, "The Crown Prince I'm Raising Has Turned Evil" is a fantastic read. The strong female lead, compelling romance, intricate plot, and excellent character development make it a standout in the genre. I highly recommend giving it a try. You might just find yourself binge-reading until 3 AM!

Synopsis

In pursuit of repaying her favor to the Empress, Xie Lin Lang traveled thousands of miles to the side of the decrowned Crown Prince in hopes of teaching and raising him to become a brilliant and intelligent emperor. However, she didn’t expect that her first mission after arriving would be to prevent him from becoming evilized! Seeing the Crown Prince about to poison the water source to kill the family of his enemies, Xie Lin Lang cried, “Don’t do it, your highness! Revenge done precisely is the trend nowadays! How about I teach you a set of unbeatable martial arts instead?” Seeing the Crown Prince with his army ready for a coup d’etat any second, Xie Lin Lang cried, “Don’t do it, your highness! I have the money and the food. How about we go the peaceful political route?” Days after days of trepidation, she didn’t think that the Crown Prince became evilized anyway! Not to mention stealing her bride, he even trapped her into a corner.
