My Thoughts on The Black Lotus Villainess Only Wants To Possess Me
"The Black Lotus Villainess Only Wants To Possess Me" is quite the ride! This yuri novel blends fantasy, psychological elements, and a dash of the supernatural in a way that kept me hooked. The premise is intriguing: a transmigrated surgeon tasked with either destroying or healing a blackened villainess. I went in expecting a dark and angsty story, and I wasn't disappointed.
First Impressions
Right off the bat, I was drawn to the dynamic between the MC, Ye Chengxing, and the FL, Li Jia. The synopsis does a great job of setting up the initial conflict and the high stakes. The ABO world is a fun setting, and the system adds a layer of complexity to the MC's mission. I particularly enjoyed the initial chapters, where Li Jia, reborn and aware of her past, tries to manipulate Ye Chengxing while hiding her true nature.
What Works Well
The character dynamics are definitely the strongest part of this novel. Ye Chengxing is a wonderfully kind and understanding MC, a true "green flag" who values communication in her relationships. Her naivety is endearing, especially when contrasted with Li Jia's cunning and possessive nature. I loved how Li Jia tries to suppress her darker urges, creating a compelling internal conflict. The author does a great job of portraying Li Jia as a pitiful character, someone who struggles with trust and relationships due to her past traumas. Seeing her slowly open up to Ye Chengxing was genuinely heartwarming, even with the underlying tension. The romance is well-developed, and the blend of drama and sweetness is perfectly balanced.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, let's talk about the ending. It's a rollercoaster! Li Jia does end up locking Ye Chengxing up, which is a dark turn, but it's also understandable given her character. The fact that Ye Chengxing eventually dies in that world due to prolonged exposure is heartbreaking. Li Jia making a deal to erase Ye Chengxing's memories so she can return home is a selfless act born out of desperation. The reunion, with Ye Chengxing regaining her memories and joining the bureau, brings a satisfying conclusion to their story.
Final Verdict
Overall, I'd give "The Black Lotus Villainess Only Wants To Possess Me" a solid recommendation. It's a well-written yuri novel with complex characters, a captivating plot, and a satisfying (albeit angsty) ending. If you enjoy stories with possessive characters, a bit of drama, and a lot of heart, this one is definitely worth checking out.
