My Thoughts on Scholar…I Don’t Want Any…Meow
Scholar…I Don’t Want Any…Meow is a whirlwind of cuteness that left me wanting more, and perhaps that's both its greatest strength and its biggest weakness. This shounen ai xuanhuan story promises a sweet and simple read, and for the most part, it delivers.
First Impressions
The premise alone – a timid scholar and a tsundere cat demon – immediately grabbed my attention. I'm a sucker for animal characteristics in stories, and the idea of a cat demon acting like, well, a cat, was too good to pass up. The ancient China setting adds a nice layer of atmosphere, and I dove in expecting a light and fluffy experience.
What Works Well
The characters are undeniably the heart of this story. The cat demon is absolutely adorable, embodying all the traits of a feline with a bit of a temper. The scholar, while timid, has a gentle and caring nature that makes their interactions incredibly endearing. The dynamic between them, with the demon cat alternating between threats and being cared for, is both funny and heartwarming. The story shines in its simplicity, offering a refreshing and sweet escape. It's pure fun to read, and I found myself chuckling throughout.
Areas of Concern
My biggest issue, and I think many readers will agree, is the ending. It feels incredibly abrupt, like the author just decided to stop writing mid-scene. It cuts off at a crucial point, leaving you hanging and desperate for more. While some might appreciate the open-endedness, I prefer a more definitive conclusion, especially in a short story. I also think that because it's so short, some details are missing, and it would have been nice to have a little more depth to the world-building and character development.

Okay, so I have to address that ending. I was definitely surprised by the scholar's sudden change, and it felt a little rushed. The virgin turning on so fast was a bit of a shock.
Final Verdict
Despite its brevity and somewhat frustrating ending, Scholar…I Don’t Want Any…Meow is a charming and enjoyable read. If you're looking for a cute, lighthearted story with a unique dynamic between its main characters, this might be right up your alley. Just be prepared for a short ride that leaves you wanting more. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
