My Thoughts on Returning at Full Level: I’ve Got that Sickly Young Master Covered
"Returning at Full Level: I’ve Got that Sickly Young Master Covered" is a wild ride of a web novel that completely subverted my expectations. I went in expecting a standard revenge plot with some romance sprinkled in, but I got so much more. This story is a genre-bending adventure, throwing together science fiction, fantasy, martial arts, and xianxia elements into a surprisingly cohesive whole.
First Impressions
Initially, I was hooked by the premise of a strong female lead returning to right the wrongs of her past. However, I quickly realized that the revenge aspect is only a small piece of a much larger, more intricate puzzle. The family conflicts that kick things off fade into the background as the story expands into something truly epic.
What Works Well
The sheer scope of the author's imagination is impressive. The plot is incredibly diverse, and I appreciate how interconnected everything is. It’s not just a series of random conflicts popping up; instead, solving one problem often unravels and resolves several others simultaneously. I also enjoyed the romance between the FL and ML. The female lead, having lived multiple lives as both men and women, possesses a unique understanding of both perspectives, making her both strong and compassionate. The male lead, while perhaps a bit of a "love brain," is endearing in his devotion and shyness. I love that the author keeps the female lead on at least equal footing with the male lead, if not higher, throughout the story.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
One aspect that particularly stood out to me was how the story handles the past lives connection between the MC and ML. It avoids the cliché of them being destined to be together in every single lifetime. I found it refreshing that the ML wasn't always the most significant person in the MC's past lives, highlighting the importance of his unwavering devotion in the present.
Final Verdict
Despite taking me longer to read than I initially anticipated, I found "Returning at Full Level: I’ve Got that Sickly Young Master Covered" to be a satisfying and imaginative read. While the initial premise might seem familiar, the story quickly evolves into something unique and engaging. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a genre-bending adventure with a strong female lead and a heartwarming romance.
