My Thoughts on Reincarnated Villainess Does Not Want Revenge
First Impressions
"Reincarnated Villainess Does Not Want Revenge" immediately grabbed my attention with its intriguing premise. The idea of a villainess reincarnation story where the protagonist doesn't crave vengeance felt like a refreshing twist on a popular trope. I was eager to dive into Rosemary's (or rather, Mary's) new life and see how she navigated a world she knew from a game, but without the burning desire for retribution that often fuels these narratives.
What Works Well
One of the strongest aspects of this novel is the protagonist herself. Mary's internal conflict – grappling with Rosemary's memories while forging her own identity – is compelling. I particularly appreciated that Mary isn't simply a replacement for Rosemary; she's a unique individual shaped by both her past and present experiences. Her desire for a peaceful existence in a chaotic world is relatable and provides a solid foundation for her actions. The author does a great job conveying the emotions of the characters, making them feel alive and their struggles feel real.
Areas of Concern
While I enjoyed the overall story, I did feel that some aspects could have been further developed. The pacing, at times, felt a little rushed, and I would have loved to see more depth in the characters' motivations. Certain plot points could have been explored in more detail to give the reader a better understanding of the world and the characters' place in it.
⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Okay, here comes the part where I have to delve into a potentially problematic area. There's a plot development involving Mary's original life brother where, due to the change in circumstances, he starts to develop romantic feelings for her. I can see how this plot point might be uncomfortable for some readers. Mary herself attempts to brush it off, but it is still there.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Reincarnated Villainess Does Not Want Revenge" is an enjoyable read with a unique take on the reincarnation genre. The protagonist is well-developed, and the story is engaging, despite some pacing issues and a potentially controversial plot point. I think it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a light fantasy romance with a bit of a twist. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
