This web novel is definitely a mixed bag, leaving me with somewhat conflicting feelings. "Post-apocalyptic Cannon Fodder Pampered Everyday" presents an interesting premise, but the execution seems to divide readers sharply.
First Impressions
Going in, I was intrigued by the title. A transmigrated cannon fodder surviving the zombie apocalypse? Sounds like a fun ride. However, it quickly became apparent that the main character, Ruan Ning, is a point of contention. Some find her reliance on others frustrating, labeling her a "vase" and criticizing her lack of initial combat skills. Others appreciate her more supportive role, arguing that she brings balance to the team with her healing and spatial abilities.
What Works Well
Despite the criticisms, the novel does have its strengths. I found that the world building, while not overly detailed, was sufficient to keep me engaged. The interactions between characters, especially the male lead Gu Yi Cheng, can be entertaining. Many readers seem to enjoy the Yandere (obsessive and domineering) aspect of his personality, finding humor in his jealousy, even towards inanimate objects.
