My Thoughts on Please Stop Summoning Me!
"Please Stop Summoning Me!" has been quite the ride, and I've got some thoughts to share. This novel blends action, adventure, fantasy, mystery, romance, and the supernatural, which, on paper, sounds like a recipe for something amazing. It certainly had its moments, but it wasn't without its flaws.
First Impressions
Initially, I wasn't completely sold. The beginning felt a bit rough around the edges, and I had a hard time connecting with the characters. It seemed like the MC was clueless, stumbling through situations without a real understanding of his powers or the world around him. But I decided to stick with it, and I'm glad I did.
What Works Well
As the story progressed, I found myself getting more invested. The concept of the MC being at the center of everyone's misconceptions is intriguing. Everyone believes he's a powerful god, even though he's not entirely sure what's going on. This creates a lot of humorous and suspenseful situations. The characters around the MC also began to develop, revealing their own stories and responsibilities. I appreciated how the author explored the consequences of their actions, adding depth to the narrative. I particularly enjoyed the later arcs, where the MC starts to take control and plan things out. It's satisfying to see him evolve from a clueless protagonist into a strategic "Chess Player." The story also dives into different religious organizations and their conflicts, which I found quite engaging.
Areas of Concern
While the second half definitely picked up, I still had some reservations. The translation quality was a recurring issue for me, with some parts feeling subpar and jarring me out of the story. I also felt that the characters, while improved, could still be shallow at times, making it difficult to fully connect with them. Plus, the plot's reliance on coincidences and conveniences occasionally felt unnatural. I also found the middle to be a bit lacking, with a noticeable dip in quality compared to the strong start.
Final Verdict
Overall, "Please Stop Summoning Me!" is a mixed bag. While it has a compelling concept and some fantastic moments, it also suffers from translation issues, shallow characters, and a somewhat uneven plot. If you're a fan of "I'm Really Not The Demon God's Lackey" or "Lord of The Mysteries," you might find something to enjoy here. However, be prepared for a few bumps along the way. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's an interesting read with potential, but it could definitely use some polishing.
